We Are The City

Coming across new music is always a blessing. With me, the blessing works in two ways, it either brings back the nostalgic love you once had for the art, awakening in excitement parts of you that were thought dead and buried, or it can either confirm that along with women, pre-bought tracks and auto-tune, music is well and truly dead.

For Canadian band We Are The City, they definitely reside in my little ‘nostalgic love’ part of whatever it is I rambled previously.

Bottom line, I rate them. Hard.

Coming straight out of Kelowna, BC, more well known to me for the kush than the music, the trio absolutely rocks it with their self stylised progressive indie tunes.

With oft times haunting tones, and a structure that is coupled with dynamic vocal melodies, their songs tend to snap quickly into visions of elation accompanied and pushed by a driven sound that helps to champion their title of progressive. We Are The City’s depth of character seeks to capture the listener, and pretty much lock them in chains. I’m definitely a fan.

Their new album ‘High School’ dropped a couple of days ago. I suggest you get on it, we are.
