KID ZOOM: HOME – Turbine Hall Installation
Posted on November 8, 2011 by Ladies&Gentleman
Two words: Holy Fuck.
I know for a fact that 10 Percent will be frothing hard on this.
Australian born, New York based artist, KID ZOOM (Ian Strange – Awesome name, bro) recently returned to the motherland to build an ambitious, massive, humongous, full-scale replica of his childhood home inside Cockatoo Island’s prestigious Turbine Hall in Sydney, for the Outpost Project. Story cut short, let’s just say that this thing is epic.
Built as a reflection on KID ZOOM’s upbringing in the Australian burbs (we all know what that feels like), KID ZOOM: HOME is complemented by a film that will see ZOOM blowing up and then smashing three iconic Australian cars. With this, ZOOM will release a video documenting the six month creation of KID ZOOM: HOME. Although we have to wait for it to be released online you can take a detailed look at this remarkable installation and the video at The Outpost Project on Cockatoo Island over the next month.
