Review: GZA and Pharoahe Monch @ Waves Nightclub

Posted on January 9, 2012 by Textbook

Last night, Ladies&Gentleman and I ventured out to Waves Nightclub to see Pharoahe Monch and the Genius known as GZA.

Well, the event was small, as was the venue, which actually made the night extremely fun and interesting.

Pharoahe Monch was up first, and killed it. He rocked the crowd with his lyrical display, especially with his banger Simon Says. Not only did Pharoahe Monch rock the crowd, but he also spoke some word of wisdom, paying his respects to both J Dilla and Nate Dogg. Pharoahe Monch’s DJ also killed it, giving us all a live demonstation of his skills.

After Pharoahe Monch finished his set, all in attendance got ready for The GZA, who if you ask L&G and I, put on a show like no other.

Being that the venue was small, and attendeance wasn’t extremely high, GZA decided to get up close and personal doing bascailly his whole set amongst the crowd, which was like I said, a show like no other.

GZA punched through Liquid Swords, absolutely amazing everyone with tracks such as Duel of the Iron Mic, Swordsman, 4th Chamber and so on. The highlight of the night, however, was when GZA gave us a raw freestyle with no background music what so ever.

All in all, this event was actually one of the best I have attended. No doubt L&G and I will be talking about this one for quite some.

Enjoy!
