‘AUSTRALIAN WALK OF STYLE’ LAUNCH

Posted on February 22, 2012 by Rex

Last night Sydney’s prestigious Australian Fashion Icons gathered with fashion lovers, designers and the media to celebrate the launch of the Australian Walk of Style.

Five plaques were laid, at The Intersection, Paddington, to honour iconic designers who have shaped the industry we know, love and continue to support.

On hand to collect the awards were Executive Designer Jonathan Ward, for RM Williams; Lisa the wife, of the late, Mark Keighery founder of Marcs; Sarah-Jane Clarke, one half of the Sass & Bide duo and Akira Isogawa. Collette Dinnigan is currently in Paris, and her plaque was accepted on her behalf by Simon Lock and property developer Theo Onisforou.

In a time of uncertainty, the Australian design industry continues to emphasise its talent. The plaques are the first five of a permanent landmark, which is planned to evolve and grow over the coming years.

Spotted: models Erin McNaught and Dree Hemmingway, Simon Lock founder of Australian Fashion Week, Josh Flinn of Top Model and designers Rachel Gilbert, Akira, Sarah-Jane Clarke, Geniveve Smart of Ginger & Smart .

To drink: champagne, Absolut Vodka cocktails and San Pellegrino mineral water with the cutest straw.

Canapés: arancini balls, mini steak pies and oysters drizzled in something straight from the Gods.

Stand out moments: tears of pride from the beautiful wife Lisa of the late Mark Keighery when receiving his plaque, Polaroid girls handing out a wallet size memory of the evening, the fleet of divine Peugeots lining the street and the honking of passing cars.

A beautiful night to support an incredible industry! Head down to The Intersection, Glenmore Rd Paddington to take a look for yourself!
