Rockin' out on a Friday night.
Exactly what I intend to do. After checking out the Bode exhibition tomorrow night (Friday 24th), I'm heading straight to Newtown for some good 'ol fashioned rock n roll.
Featuring:
Drill
Forming in 1992, experimenting with a mixture of sounds, they toured Sydney and Melbourne gathering a following. '93 saw the release of the limited edition 7" titled Ballman. Although never having any sort of proper management, Drill was still requested to support iconic Aussie bands such ass Frenzal Rhomb, Front end Loader, Budd and Lawnsmell, Spiderbait and Shihad. 1995 saw another release, the E.P Spin Dry The Adjudicator, which during that time they played extensive live shows. After these shows the band went on hiatus for the members to pursue their education. 2012 sees the return of Drill and this is your chance to see them in action.
Zeahorse
Sydney 4 piece, Zeahorse are a great band with a wall of distortion that will knock you back a few feet. Truth be told these guys are good friends of mine, so any more that I say would be completely biased. Did I mention they rock?
Toy Death
Destroying children’s electronic toys and abusing them for their own sick satisfaction, whilst wearing costumes that would scare even Slipknot. Producing live music from their evil toy box of modified play time accessories, resulting in quite an interesting spectacle. Performance art featuring Big Judy, GiJoe and Supa Dad.
Manic Sleeper Cell
Loosely in the category of alt / post punk, with bands coming up in conversation such as The Drones, The Stabs, Cosmic Psychos, The Blood Brothers, C’Aaarme, At the Drive In and Rage Against the Machine. A vast range of lyrical content with their stage shows being described as "planking on the edge of an abyss."
