Tag, you're it.

Rapper tag, the once genius idea to promote Australian MC's doing what they do best, now just people making film clips, waiting impatiently to be tagged so they can get their 15 minutes of fame. To be honest I haven't seen all the rapper tags and haven't heard of a lot of these guys. Essentially the title of this should probably be just 'Aussie rappers I like', but there are definitely some great submissions so I thought I would share my favourites with you.

In no particualr order:

Vents

When I 1st heard Vents' debut Hard to kill I was a little unsure, but it grew on me very quickly. Vents' style is raw and aggressive and with Trials on the mix, this album always gets the blood pumping. As for this clip, I'm loving the real drums, the some what lack of organisation and what rap clip would be complete without a black Porsche?

The Tongue

I remember being heaps excited when this 1st came out, as I was still thrashing his mix tape Redux and debut album Shock & Awe. For me I enjoy this man's music so much I think because, while his lyrics are well constructed, its simple and easy to relate to, plus if you have ever listened to things like The Tongue is dead, you will know what a great sense of humor he has, some of which comes across at the beginning of this video. Rumour has it the man also enjoys a good burrito.

Pegz

MC Pegasus, killer rhymer and owner of the renowned Obese Records, which homes some of Australia's finest hip-hop artists such as Thundamentals & The Coalition Crew. When we look back in 20 years at the scene, the Pegz album Axis will stand the test of time, an instant classic. With one of the best producers in the country, Plutonic Lab on the kit and a room that I would love to spend about 5 hours in just looking, this is another nice entry.

Bias B

Legendary old school veteran of burn city makes the cut with his little one rocking to the beat and some quite nice sculpture in the back ground. With the tracks this guy has put out, he has no trouble making the top 5. Now retired, in my opinion due to the fact it must be hard to think of more new songs about weed and graff after a handful of classic albums, but more realistically to focus on his family life. My self and no doubt many others eagerly await a comeback, not that he would call it that...

Dedlee

The guy is an extremely talented rapper and more people need to know his music. His guest parts on Prowla's releases, including the split album with him are probably my favourite Australian hip-hop releases of all time. If you're going to have a relatively boring video, step it up and DJ the thing your self. Can someone please tag Prowla? These guys have been far too quiet for too long. NUFFSAID.

Hope you enjoyed a little peak into some of my favourites and I must give honrouble mentions to some others that made me want to extend this...

Hau (Koolism)

Lazy Grey

Dialectrix

PEACE.
