VIDEO: Katy Perry – ‘Part Of Me’

Launched onto the internet just this morning, the music video for Katy Perry’s latest single ‘Part Of Me’ is finally out and takes the message of girl power to the metaphorical and literal battlefield of love.

After catching her boyfriend fooling around with a girl at work, Katy happens to see an army recruitment ad and does what Demi Moore did in G.I. Jane and cuts her hair and puts a girdle to hide her spectacular breasts (c’mon, they’re what got Perry a male audience at all!) to prove herself to her male army counterparts in the harsh boot camp and then the horrors of the battlefield, all the while trying to forget about the guy who broke her heart.

‘Part Of Me’ is the first single from Katy’s re-release of her hit album Teenage Dream entitled Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection that has all the original album’s tracks as well as bonus ones. Essentially, you could say ‘Part Of Me’ was a B-Side that got a second chance at life.

The song’s about not letting a guy break your spirit after he’s broken your heart and proving that you’re capable of living and surviving without him. If the song and video’s message of getting over a guy by doing something as tough and rigorous as joining the army proves anything, it’s that girl power is very much alive and kicking.
