L.A Women skate tribute

Posted on March 23, 2012 by Mr. Pickles

A tribute to a legendary band, The Doors.

Yesterday as I was walking to grab a bite to eat on my lunch break, the album of choice, The Great Southern Trendkill from the mornings journey came to end. Those of you familiar with the music setting on an iphone will know once the album has completed you can press play again and the library will go into the shuffle setting from the lock screen. As I did this the first song that begin playing was no other than L.A Women.

A few hours later back at my desk in between doing fuck all and falling asleep for what seemed to be just long enough not to get a stern tap on the shoulder from the boss, I came across this clip. In a strange case of deja vu, I knew this was a sign that I would end up writing about it later in the evening, despite not being able to play the video in my concentration camp like office. Fuck you Trend Micro.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Doors and skaters Kenny Anderson, Alex Olson & Braydon Szafranski have put together an edit of their journey through Los Angeles. Whilst the clip really doesn’t have a lot of actual skateboarding tricks, the footage I believe kind of embraces the spirit of rock n roll as well as skateboarding in the sense of freedom and adventure. Not knowing enough about the members of the iconic group, I’ll take a stab in the dark and say the older gentlemen in the video is one of them. Great song and Kenny Anderson has been one of my favourites for a while.

Check it out.
