Style Icon: Grace Kelly
Posted on March 27, 2012 by Bambi
Finally, we get a break from Audrey Hepburn.
The late Grace Kelly, Hollywood actress and Princess of Monaco, is one of last century’s enduring pinnacles of style and… I bet no one has ever said this before… grace.
Earlier this month, Bendigo Art Gallery in Victoria opened its latest exhibition, Style Icon: Grace Kelly, to an enthusiastic public and an optimistic media reception. In an interview with Anna MacDonald of the ABC, the director of Bendigo Art Gallery Karen Quinlan estimated that the exhibition of Kelly’s iconic wardrobe, including her 1955 Oscar dress and a black silk chiffon dress from her 1954 performance in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, would attract an audience of more than 76,000. Style Icon is the gallery’s third major international exhibition and MacDonald expects that they will only grow in strength as a prestigious regional gallery.
If old world glamour, Hollywood icons, Christian Dior or cute regional towns push any of your buttons, I recommend you head down to the gallery and let yourself be schooled by Grace in How To Be Amazing 101.
Style Icon: Grace Kelly is open until 17 June 2012. Tickets available from The Capital.
