After 23 years, over 500 episodes and countless speculation, The Simpsons’ place of residence is revealed.

In an article published in the May issue of the Smithsonian Magazine online, creator Matt Groening has finally confirmed that the Simpsons live in the state of Oregon in America’s pacific northwest about 100 miles south of his hometown of Portland.

Over the years the show has had countless gags about the undisclosed location and along the way Groening has never given it away in any interviews.

“Whenever people say it’s Springfield, Ohio, or Springfield, Massachusetts, or Springfield, wherever, I always go, “Yep, that’s right.”

It adds yet another dimension to Matt’s closeness to the show as everyone’s names in the family (except Bart), the street number and name and various other characters that feature in the show are from his real life.

The Simpsons is currently in its 23rd season.

Here’s a small musical number to remind you just how good the show is…not that you need it.
