CURVY Book Launch 2012

I say ‘all-girl’ and you say ‘send me the link and don’t call for half an hour.”
That’s not quite what I meant, but I’ve got your attention now…
Nestled in a bed of pink clouds behind the pearly gates of Chick Heaven, some progressive feminist lady-god decided May would be this year’s designated Girls’ Month. We kicked off the month with the Pedestrian x TIGI Bed Head Bachelorette of the Year 2012, and next weekend is Mothers’ Day (you forgot, didn’t you? …You’re welcome), but the most exciting event is on this week. aMBUSH Gallery is set to host the 2012 CURVY book launch and exhibition, a showcase of the most talented contemporary female artists from over forty countries across the globe.
CURVY, the sister publication of MUSCLE UP, is the brainchild of the sweater-knitting, cookie-baking, sweet little boss bitches at YEN Magazine. It has been celebrating the creativity and immeasurable talent of the world’s most beautifully-minded women since its launch in 2003, and this year the exhibition includes not only the work of 30 of the book’s contributors, but also a special collection from Miss Van’s first Australian solo show.
Check the aMBUSH website for a full list of exhibitors, and make sure you wriggle down tomorrow night to show these girls some love. The exhibition also marks the beginning of Semi-Permanent 2012, so even if you’re a chauvinist pig, it’ll be a good opportunity for art-world schmoozing.
The CURVY book launch and group show launches Wednesday 9th May, 7pm – 10pm at aMBUSH Gallery, 4a James St, Waterloo.
