Select Music’s 7th Birthday Extravaganza

Posted on May 21, 2012 by 10percent

Select Music, one of Australia’s most prominent artist and touring agency’s are having their 7th birthday and we’re all invited!

Representing some of our hottest local acts including and definitely not limited to, Bluejuice, Boy & Bear, Midnight Juggernauts, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Ozi Batla, Lior, Something With Numbers and Grafton Primary they’ll be celebrating their 7th birthday in a MASSIVE way and all for a good cause. The aim of the night is to raise money for Beyondblue; a charity dedicated to raising awareness amongst Australians over the issues of depression, as well as supporting persons with depression. Not wanting to lose the importance of the event in the interpretation of my words, the cause straight from the horses mouth can be found below.

“With grueling touring schedules, stressful deadlines, social pressures and a job that is surrounded by the influence of drugs & alcohol, depression is an issue that is seen far too often in the music industry. beyondblue aims to build a society that understands and responds to the personal and social impact of depression, works actively to prevent it, and improves the quality of life for everyone affected. Their message, and their involvement in community events, is something that is very important to Select Music.

Select is very proud to say that its artists are all 100% behind this idea, and feel that this is the perfect opportunity to give something back to the community – which is also why they’ve made tickets for the night so cheap! And we are so very thankful to the venues who are forfeiting all their venue costs on the night and to everyone who is getting behind us to help make the event happen.”

Sounds good? Sounds absolutely epic!

The festivities will be kicking off on Thursday, June 21 and will be spanning across 5 bars including The Standard, Upstairs Beresford, Oxford Art Factory, OAF Gallery and Phoenix Bar, with a whole cadre of amazing acts performing including Andy Bull, Argentina, Bluejuice, Bob Evans, Ball Park Music, Elizabeth Rose, The John Steel Singers, Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Lior, Midnight Juggernauts DJs, Millions, The Mission In Motion, Nantes , Pluto Jonze, Purple Sneakers DJs, RÜFÜS, Something With Numbers, Spit Syndicate, Step-Panther, The Paper Kites, The Paper Scissors DJ’s, The Preachers, The Jungle Giants, Strangers, The Walking Who, Tokyo Denmark Sweden and Toucan.
