Nike Air More Uptempo ‘Olympic’

Posted on May 30, 2012 by BeEasy

Nike bring out an all-time classic to help celebrate the Dream Team and 2012 London Olympics.

It’s been 20 years since the original Dream Team converged onto Barcelona and completely dominated like nothing seen ever before, or after for that matter.

The team was so ridiculous that they have often been labelled as the best sporting team ever put together, EVER. No questions here.

Skip four years to 1996, where some of the members of the ’92 squad backed it up at the Atlanta Games and again produced another gold medal. One of those members was Scottie Pippen, the Robin to Jordan’s Batman.

If you know basketball shoes, the Air More Uptempo was innovative and a straight up beast, instantly recognisable with the massive ‘AIR’ logo across the whole shoe and the fresh air bubbles throughout.

Nike have decided to spoil us by releasing the ‘Dream Team’ collection, which will honour four memorable sneakers that were on show at the Olympic Games in particular years. The Air More Uptempo is the first of the releases.

The Air More Uptempo were originally retroed in 2010, and even though it is an unusual quick turnaround for another release, I’m sure no one is complaining.

These shoes were a big part of my childhood, and I just know I’m going to cave when I see these gems in person. Set for release in July, don’t sleep on these classics worn by #33.
