Cake Wines to open Pop-Up Bar

Posted on June 5, 2012 by Rex

Cake – our favourite cultural winos – are at it again, taking their instinctual eye for great talent and design combined with their educated palette to bring us a pop-up wine bar.

We saw them collaborate with local artists on the Cake Wine labels, so it’s no surprise that their pop-up bar is to be set in a warehouse space which will soon be closing its doors indefinitely.

In a final last hurrah, Cake will host a 3 week celebration in an ode to the Queen St studios and the outstanding cultural contribution the venue has made over the last 3 years.

Not surprisingly, Cake Wines and Queen St will be curating events from Thursday – Sunday offering patrons musical events, wine tastings (yes, please), exhibitions, workshops and more.

It wouldn’t be a Cake venue without all 4 Cake varietals (Cab Merlot, Sauv Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir) as well as cider from The Hills (Adelaide Hills) and 4 pines beer (Manly). Not that you need more convincing, but the beloved Bourke St Bakery will supply the food. Yes.

Acts include:
FBi Live broadcast / Joyride (Solo piano session) / Future Classic DJ’s / Mrs Bishop / Art Installa$ons / Theatre / No dice Paradise / Simon Caldwell / Winter People / Glass Towers Cake film series

Don’t miss it. Just don’t. I mean, is there a better way to ignore the nip of a Winters eve than with a glass of Pinot Noir?
The bar will be open from 5pm – 10pm Thursday Friday and 3pm – 10pm Sat Sunday.

*Full calendar and set $mes available from facebook.com/cakewines and cakewines.com as of Monday the 11th of June.
