The Big Ape Tour ft. Skream, Joker, Plastician

Posted on June 5, 2012 by OneEightKevin

In what’s likely to be the biggest bass-heavy tour this year, the Big Ape Tour is bringin’ out Skream, Joker and Plastician for an all-English dubstep affair.

With the rumour mill in overdrive about the incoming festival season, this July tour will definitely be a suitable teaser for gargantuan events like Parklife and Stereosonic. Parklife‘s confirmed acts already include Modestep, DJ Fresh and Labrinth, the latter of whom Primo! had the pleasure of chatting to earlier this year.

Headlining the tour will be dubstep veteran Skream. While he already came Down Under to welcome in 2012 at Field Day, this time he’ll be working the decks solo – without the help of close associate Benga. Rowdy hype man Sgt. Pokes will also be at the shows to offer some A-grade banter.

Next on the bill is rising star Joker. I love this dude. In addition to his debut album The Vision, he has a solid history of releases and a thoroughly enjoyable Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. He broke the mainstream festival circuit by appearing on last years’ Parklife line-up, but seeing him perform again in a club environment will be next level.

Finally we have Plastician, a grime and dubstep OG comin’ straight out of Croydon . Having hosted a weekly slot on England’s Rinse FM since its’ pirate radio days, this dude has years of experience and acclaim under his belt. He’s responsible for some of the hardest tunes on record – just check out his collabo with Skepta, Tempa T and co. below.

In conclusion, this tour is going to be fucked. Check out the dates and videos below to see what’s in store. My money’s on this one to take out the club tour of the year title. See you’se at the Sydney show.
