Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap
Posted on June 6, 2012 by L&G
Now this may be something that will give you even more respect for Kanye West, he didn’t write down any of his spits for his first 4 albums. Think about that for a second; COLLEGE DROPOUT AND LATE REGISTRATION WERE NOT WRITTENS.
Absolute craziness.
From the upcoming Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap, Rapper, actor, and producer, Tracy Lauren Marrow, better known as Ice-T, will make his directorial debut in the revealing documentary on the music and the culture that spawned from the rap game. When I first heard of this, I thought it was going to be the usual players that are in rap documentaries (i.e. Rakim, KRS-One, Ice Cube), but having Mr. West, Common, Eminem, Dre, Snoop to name a few on it, will make a huge difference in the popularity of it’s release. In this short 50 second clip, Kanye explains why he took a different route and wrote the music to his most recently solo album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, saying that he felt like this would be make or break.
As you already know, Twisted Fantasy has been an absolute monster in the charts, further cementing his legacy as an all-round legend in the game. With a release day set for June 15th, get ready for something that should be super revealing in the lives of some of the greats.
Cannot wait, son.
