Review: adidas Originals adistar Racer

Posted on June 8, 2012 by L&G

The new adidas Originals adistar Racer is a straight-up classic, and I am not just talking about the shoes look.

For someone who has been fully aligned with the Nike Air Max 90’s series for some time, it breaths a breath of fresh air to my already stacked shoe collection. Could these make my daily runs? Maybe.

Shoe features:

The adistar Racer features an upper of not only soft suede, but some mesh on the top toe, a little leather trim, and your classic runner sole that seems to be a nice aged-white on a super low-profile midsole. This, my friends, combines all of the shit you would want in a classic running kick. A nice difference from my chunkier runners I have for wearing casually that are super limited on what pants to wear with. A good thing to mention, is that even though they are super low, they are surprisingly comfortable for those looking for not only a nice looking shoe but comfort as a main priority as well. Legit.

Colourways:

The shoe comes in ripe red and burgundy, black and white, and my personal favourite striking blue/grey. These, as you can see are the blues, which go extremely well with a pair of your favourite chinos. The thing I like about this colourway, is that they remind me of the adidas Ronan Blue/White, which were a pair of shoes I had my eyes on for ages, before I completely dogged purchasing. Oh well, back to the adistar Racer’s.

What I was worried about actually, was the fact that these could only, just maybe, go with shorts. With the current weather climate here in Sydney especially, I was afraid that they might be stuck in my wardrobe till sunnier times, so I was weary of putting these on with pants. Lucky for me, chinos look good with this colourway. Actually, now that I think about it, every colourway will go with chinos, so whichever you decide to go with, will get a fair bit of wear. I find myself looking at the black/white pair a bit, so as a point of difference, get them. I will probably kill you if I see you in the same pair as me.

Only kidding..

But seriously.

Should you get them?

Pretty easy answer: Yes. Going back to what I said, these go with any outfit in your wardrobe, not just chinos. Tight blacks, straight leg raw denim, maybe short shorts? (Actually, definitely not short shorts.)

You can pick up a pair from the adidas Originals store, Westfield Sydney, or any other adidas outlet.
