Henry Bucks x Beggar Man Thief
Posted on July 3, 2012 by The Milk Man
It’s a combination they’ve certainly gotten right; Henry Bucks, a world famous menswear specialist, is collaborating with Beggar Man Thief, an Australian men’s footwear and accessory store, to put both into one place.
Beggar Man Thief announced the opening of it’s new Melbourne footwear space within Henry Bucks - at 320 Collins Street located in the surroundings of Henry Bucks suit and accessories department in the lower ground floor of Bucks Collins St Flagship.
Both are originally Melbourne based which I think is pretty cool, especially with Henry Bucks having originated in the 1890s and Beggar Man Thief only 2 years ago in 2010. It’s the old and the new coming together which is something that isn’t seen too often, and it seems the fit perfectly together; one provides clothes while the other shoes. Beggar Man Thief won’t be stepping on Henry Bucks toes, if you know what I mean. Honestly though, it’s impressive to see Henry Bucks embracing the new wave of street fashion despite being an icon recognised for traditional menswear for over 100 years.
Beggar Man Thief spots brands like Andrew McDonald, Lacoste, Vanishing Elephant and Sebago, working with the old and new, Australian and foreign designer merchandise. They have some sweet casual stuff as well as heaps of formal footwear too. It would seem if I went to the new store on Collins Street I’d be spending my time in the shoe section; Henry Bucks aims at the 35 – 65 age group of ‘affluent, corporate or professional, smartly dressed clients’. I am neither affluent nor professional…and I’m 20.
The Beggar Man Thief footwear store is now open in Henry Bucks at 320 Collins Street, Melbourne. If you’re a Melbourne local or heading there soon, be sure to check them out.
