Wilfry Yeezy 2 Shirt – RRP $90,300

This year the Yeezy 2 has bought some crazy moments in pop culture history.
From worldwide raffles to campouts to the insane reselling on eBay, Mr West has been the centre of attention in the sneaker world so far in 2012. Now comes a whole ‘nother level.
T-shirt designer Wil Fry has just launched his newest creation – the “Air Yeezy 2″ shirt. Looking to capitalise on the public’s desire to pay exorbitant prices for ordinary items that were designed by famous people or celebrities, Fry produced the shirt, which is nothing more than an image of the Yeezy 2 layered on top of one another to create a sea of Yeezy’s over the tee.
The shirt is not endorsed by Nike and has absolutely no affiliation with Ye himself, yet the shirt is currently retailing for $90,300…ironically the same price that a pair of Yeezy 2′s went for on eBay just a few weeks ago.
It is yet to be known whether that auction was legit or not, but either way, it goes to show what kinda of insanity the Yeezy 2′s bought upon us.
I think it’s clear that Wil Fry is somewhat making a statement about the state of our society at present, and the fact that some (or many) of us would be willing to fork out ridiculous amounts of $$$ for a piece of fashion that is simply wanted just because someone famous has collaborated on it.
This is not the first time that ‘Wilfry’ has created a little controversy in the fashion world. Earlier this year, Mr Fry created a shirt that mocked Marc Jacobs and his graffiti tee that was selling for $689. ‘Wilfry’ ended up selling his creation for $35. Go figure.
The Yeezy 2 shirt is actually pretty sweet….but for $90, 300??? I’d want Kanye hand-delivering it to me, rapping his lines to ‘Mercy’ and handing me a pair of Yeezy 2′s in a 10.5, while Kimmy K gives me a sensual back massage whispering sweet nothings in my ear. For real.
