Kenzo x Vans 2012 Fall Footwear

I had always wondered if there was a scenario in life that Vans wouldn’t fit into. The only two things I could come up with were black tie/ formal/ cocktail events and trips to the beach (I left out weddings, funerals, most work places and the snow)
No one likes finding that somehow endless pit of sand in their shoes the day after, so why not have Vans specifically for those water and/or sand related days?
The Kenzo x Vans Authentic ‘Stripes’ suggested immediately to me one thing: they were cut out of one of those cabana tents you see by the pool or sometimes life guards sit under at the beach. Now, that’s not to say that’s a bad thing. Infact, it brought to me this idea of dressing not only for your environment but like your environment. I can picture myself wearing these by the poolside with rolled up pants, sipping on a mojito and getting free looks at any bird that walks past through my tactically chosen Club Masters.
I think the shoes are subtle enough to pull this off. They would just fit, especially if there was one of those cabana tent things around. People would think to themselves ‘Wow, this guy really belongs here,’ but they would have no idea why.
It’s typical of Kenzo to go for the bright and vibrant colours, and its not the first time these two have collaborated; they released some different patterns earlier in May in their 2012 summer collection, but I definitely prefer these stripe patterns better. It’s said there are more on the way to be released heading into the later months, so if you like them try to get a hold of these bad boys. However the price goes up to about $125 USD which may be a bit much for a pair of Vans.
