Lollapalooza 2012 Preview
Posted on August 2, 2012 by ChuckTaylor
August is here. That means one thing. Lollapalooza is back to rock our nuts off this weekend!
For the 15th time in it’s 21 year history, 8 years since it parked it’s ass in Grant Park, Chicago, making it a destination festival, Lollapalooza is about to make a hell of a lot of good memories and great stories for those lucky enough to attend. 90,000 people attended each of the 3 days last year and with another sellout this year we’re sure to have another 300,000 blown minds by Sunday night.
Headlined by legends like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the reunited Black Sabbath, this year’s lineup is for everyone, as always. Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Florence and her machine, Franz Ferdinand, Avicii, Bassnectar, B.o.B, Calvin Harris and tonnes more, including the ever painful schedule clashes. Black Keys or Black Sabbath? Chili Peppers or Frank Ocean or Avicii? Justice or Jack White? 96 Dream Team or 2012 Team USA? FUCK!
But I’m not complaining, because that’s a good problem to have. I’ll worry about that once I’ve got that first beer in hand. For those unable to make the trek out to the Chi, the Lolla team will once again be streaming the entire weekend on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/lollapalooza.
So pay your internet bill, hook your computer up to your TV and grab a beer. I wanna feel you all in spirit. (You might wanna research the time zone difference though!)
NOTE: Ozzy Osbourne still isn’t dead yet so there’ll be no holograms at Lolla this year. That bat-head eating looney tune will be there in the flesh.
In the mean time, I found a video on the interwebs of one of the most epic festival moments of my life, Foo Fighters playing My Hero through a massive rain storm at last year’s Lolla. The 31 second mark sent chills down my spine. Amazing. Enjoy.
