A Soul Thing is a film about one of Spains most renowned techno acts, Pig & Dan (Igor Tchkotoua (Pig) and Dan Duncan). It examines the reason for their progression from DJing to a new and more interactive live set which enables them to interact with the crowd on a level that they felt was more intimate.
After a tumultuous decade together the duo feel inspired to move beyond just pressing play when they perform live. With the introduction of new technologies and live instruments to their sets, Pig & Dan ensure that all future performances will be like no other.
The video also covers the dynamic pairs new album released on the 30th of July (2012) through Soma Records. Pig & Dan’s high energy style of DJ quite obviously transcends through to their music. This full-length album release through Soma provides great insight into why the pair has become so visible and important, smoothly shifting between an underground ethos whilst maintaining a synergy with and respect for the audience whose aural enjoyment is of paramount importance to the pair.

The quality and diversity displayed on the album means that this 10 year anniversary LP displays perfectly produced sounds with maintained dynamism and intricacy throughout. Such rich depth and innovation enables this album to sit proudly within Somas canon of great releases and the very nature of the intense, all-consuming and potent sound makes this album an essential part of the future direction of Pig&Dan and the wider musical sphere.
With this said, I highly recommend taking 20 minutes out of your day to appreciate the genius that is Pig & Dan.
