The people in charge of production, are Dominic Cooper and Imgen Poots, and from reports that I do not care to mention, filming is set for February 7^th, 2014. The story behind the film will keep you at the edge of your seat, as you see Aaron Paul play a local street racer who, after being framed for the death of a friend, joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to get revenge.

What a twist! This is a straight M.Night Shyamalan kind of shit!

Could this be a start to another successful car racing franchise to rival the juggernaut which is the Fast and the Furious? Could KiD CuDi be going down the same direction as newly released jailbird Ja Rule? Could KiD CuDi be heading to jail because he wants to he just like his hero Ja Rule, as KiD CuDi’s secretly most favourite song of all-time is Mesmerize ft. Ashanti?

If there is one thing I absolutely hate, is the way Superman is portrayed as a pussy. How the fuck does every villain somehow have Kryponite stored somewhere? It makes no sense. He is meant to be this badass, unstoppable machine that is always getting beaten by a substance that is not only super rare, but completely unattainable. /rant

Today however, news (and quite possibly just rumours which I whole heartedly believe) have been unveiled that the new Superman, produced by Dark Knight’s lord Christopher Nolan have made headlines that the new rebooted version of Superman will not only not have any Kryptonite, but his only weakness is his love for humanity. Take that would-be villains everywhere.

Also, if you happen to look at the new actor who is playing Superman; Henry Cavill, you will notice that he is not some small bodied bro who just happens to have super strength. No, this time around, he is this specimen of a man who fits the “Don’t fuck with me, I am Superman” look perfectly.

I could not be anymore excited for this, even if I tried. Mark it in your diaries, homies. June 27^th is going to be huge!

I don’t often write articles about industrial design such as this, but for whatever reason, I’ve been trying to find a nice pen as of late, and this video of creating a pen sparked me to do so.

As a journalist, I write a lot. Although it’s not as if I write pen to paper all that much – I’m usually typing on my MacBook Pro, or sometimes jotting down notes on my iPhone 4s (I need to upgrade). However, I feel that I need a decent pen for the times that I do. I mean, what happens when I finally get a call up to play in the NBA, and need to sign the contract, supposing the team interested doesn’t have a pen on them? I would need one… Okay, that is probably never going to happen. But nonetheless, I’m after a nice pen.

Back to my pen hunt, I’ve had a look around some local stores, but no pen really stands out. And the pens that do are way overpriced. While I say I want a nice pen, I don’t want a pen that costs too much. Simply a good quality pen for a relative price.

Anyway, the hunt will continue. More to the point of this article, though, watch the video filmed and edited by Alexander Chappel – a beautiful take on creating a pen thanks to some great videography. Maybe I should just create my own like Alexandre Chappel?

Remember when this movie premiered back in 2001? You had these street racing thugs stealing from the back of trucks with their hotted-up Honda Civic’s? Then, there was Paul Walker being this undercover cop, who somehow gets involved within this tight knit circle of members who had Vin Diesel as their boss hog? I most definitely do. Theses movies are so out of control, that I cannot help watch them over and over. Sure, the storylines are terrible, the acting is terrible, and there is never nearly enough car racing, but hey, it spawned off 5 more movies from going to Tokyo, to Mexico, and back to the States.

I have to confess if you don’t already know after reading the last couple of paragraphs; I absolutely love these movies. I love nothing more than watching a movie you really do not have to think to hard to get. Hence, why these movies are so damn good. I have been to the premier of every single one. As soon as tickets go on sale, BOOM! I am getting some.

The latest installment of the series: Fast & Furious 6 has Dom (played by Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker) and the rest of the gang reprise their roles to hunt down (and please, bare with me as you are not going to believe this), an International terrorist by using the equipment they use best; crazy cars, explosions, and insane driving skills. Storyline on 3 hunna, bros. Absolute gold.

I am absolutely frothing at the mouth for this. Watch the final trailer above, and catch Fast & Furious in theaters on May 24^th.

If you haven’t heard of Ken Block, he is that crazy professional rally driver, and DC Shoe co-founder that recklessly takes his rally car through different routes from a track, to the streets of San Francisco. If there is anything to take away from this bro, is that he can drive, and he can drive extremely well.

Today, we have this; Ken Block takes his Ford Focus rally machine through a wintery Russian location. Let’s just think about those key words for a second;

Wintery Russia. Winter. Snow. Wet. Slippery… Crazy.

This man is straight up reckless. His tearing up the Russian landscape through forests and ski runs is amazing to watch, and would have been incredible to film. The film, which has been assisted through the visual aids of dozens of GoPro HD HERO2 cameras, as well as cameras positioned throughout the course Ken Block rips up is quite possibly the best way to capture such an awesome clip.

I know nothing about cars or rally driving, so watching this is cool as shit. Sit back and enjoy.

We tried to arrive late to look totally badass, but Vice duked us by starting even later. So looking like every other on-time-sucker there, we took our seats and nestled in for what was sure to be the greatest documentary of all time.

Let me be totally honest, Snoop Lion Reincarnated is by far the greatest documentary of all time. It is about 100% weed smoking and 100% Snoop being the Mayor of Everything. The film shows Snoop’s journey into Jamaica to embark on a spiritual quest to learn about the way of the Rastafari. With a brief biography of snoops life up until this point regularly interjected, we see the contrast between Dogg and Lion. The weed jokes didn’t get old and it was refreshing to see a big time celeb making fun of himself.

While points of the film did drag on a little too long, and production value was pretty far from consistent, this is certainly an interesting watch and worth checking out. I assume Vice will be releasing Snoop Lion Reincarnated in some form after it has finished touring the globe, so keep an eye out!

I’ll be honest, there are very few music-based artists who have made successful transitions in genres. It’s success is about as likely as Nicki Minaj being silicone free. As much as I love Kid Cudi, WZRD was less than worst, and don’t even mention Lil Wayne’s highly offensive/repulsive attempt at ‘rock’. But Snoop Lion’s take on Reggae’s been out for a while and I’ll admit that his shit’s pretty banging. I’m holding out for a collab with the air to the thrown of reggae, Damian Marley.

Kilian Martin is so ridiculously smooth on the deck that you’d swear it was CGI, either that or he’s some sort of Skate Wizard. Like Galdalf’s younger more rebelious brother that gave a middle finger to middle earth and elected to be the most graceful skater there ever was instead. He makes gravity his bitch and controls his board in a way that makes you wish you’d skated every minute of your life up until the point of watching this video.

Not only does Martin execute his skills in the most insane fashion, but Brett Novak (Videographer and Editor) Directed the living tits out of this film. Even if skating doesn’t interest you in the slightest because you’re the worlds biggest hater and can’t appreciate things you don’t understand, you’ll be frothing over this piece of visual mastery. The pace of this clip and the way Novak showcases Martin’s talents are second to non.

One of the best shows is almost back for its third, and by the looks of it, most exciting season yet. The popular HBO television series, Game of Thrones, returns March 31. I’m pumped.

EPIC! That is the best way to describe Game of Thrones. And yes, capital letters and an exclamation mark was a must.

To sum up the show in a very few words, and books assuming it is the same (I haven’t actually read any… Yet), it’s basically about different kings, leaders, clans and families of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros battling it out for supremacy, each doing what they have to do to take control of the Iron Throne. I won’t go into the characters, and those currently with their eye on the Iron Throne. That would be unfair for those who are yet to watch the show, or read the books. Plus, too much has gone down to explain in just a paragraph. But to give you a more relatable idea, Game of Thrones is right up your ally if you enjoyed Lord of the Rings, or any other medieval story.

With the all the action of the series returning next month, the official trailer for season the new season has arrived, and like my earlier description of the show, it’s epic also. I probably wouldn’t watch it if you’re yet to catch the first two season, though.

So, if you haven’t yet checked out Game of Thrones I (shame on you), now is your chance to catch up before its return. And for those who are really keen, why not read the books, too.

Quentin Tarantino produces what seems to be flawless movie after flawless movie after flawless movie and his latest tale based on american slavery “Django Unchained” does not disappoint.

Heading into the cinemas, you’re either one of two people: a regular movie-go-er who thought “this movie seems good” or the more popular ‘Tarantino fan boy ‘ who’s been frothing for months. I entered the cinema as the latter.

Speaking with that bias, I fell in love with ‘Django Unchained’ instantly. The opening seconds snap you into a vintage spaghetti-western and through the epic opening track, highly stylized camera work and even text used in the  opening credits you can’t help but feel that you’re in for something different, epic and bad ass.  

With the movie spanning for 3 hours that sense is never dropped and with film’s conclusion you’re left with nothing but immense satisfaction. It’s like ordering a chicken schnitzel then getting a lobster stuffed snitty on your table. Oh, and don’t worry if you’re in category number 1 because Tarentino’s modern day western still brings the goods to the table.

The soundtrack kills it, the actors kill it, the storyline kills it, the characters kill it, literally everything in this movie is just golden, it is hard not to jerk-circ over the badass bombardment that Django provides. The mummers and whispers of various audience members saying “Fuck, that was badass” was heard at least once every 10 minutes.

That being said, if you’re looking for something negative about the movie you’re gonna have trouble finding it from almost anywhere. Django Unchained is an ultimate movie. It’s a popcorn flick, it’s a best-picture-worthy-film, it’s hilarious, intense, gory, unique and lacking of any dull moments and with Tarantino producing perhaps one of his best movies (remember, this is the God who made Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs) this is one of those rare films where you should get your ass up and watch it in the cinemas now.

Doesn’t matter though, I am just glad that we have the movie coming out finally. HBO’s long-running series (and every male out there’s favourite) Entourage has a movie coming out with the entire original cast coming back. This means that we will have not only Vincent Chase, E, Drama, Turtle and Ari Gold back for a one time only show (which will most probably go for a bit over an hour).

In case you are wondering if Michael Bay will be directing the film therefore ruining it, you’re mistaken. The series creator Doug Ellin, who not only wrote the screenplay, but also produced the series with Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson is back to direct the film, so it wont lose any of its hit charm.

I wonder what the story will be about though? If you remember, the last images revealed that Ari had left the business only to get a last minute phone call offering him his dream job of running a film studio. Where do they go from there?

We find out when the film comes out.

Unfortunately, at this moment Terminator 5 doesn’t look like it’ll hit screens anytime soon due to an uncompleted script and a few other production problems.

But with Arnie’s personal announcement at a screening for his latest film “The Last Stand”, the original Terminator’s confirmation in returning to the franchise should be a good enough reason to be pumped for its release… in estimated 2015.

Never the less, as a guy who has a long time love for the dude, I can just simply tell you  Arnold Schwarzenegger makes movies better.  Jingle All The Way, Batman and Robin, Commando, Earlier Terminators, Kindergarten Cop, True Lies, whatever,  you name it, Arnie turns them all into classics through his heavy-accent-line delivery, mediocre acting and the hilarious/badass aurora that radiates from his gigantic,movie star head.

If on the off chance  you’ve either never watched his movies, take them a little too seriously or not aspiring to be as jacked as him during his days in the Mr. Olympia body building contest (A.K.A don’t love Arnie Schwarz) I assure you, your love will evolve once you watch the video below. Its pretty much one of the greatest videos to hit the internet.

Starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs to celebrate not only his life, but also his history, legacy and what he built to what is today known as Apple Inc, this new film titled: jOBS looks like it’s actually going to be a really good watch.

Like mentioned, the film will feature Ashton Kutcher as a young Steve Jobs. The film shows the story of one of the most more amazing brands in history. It’s crazy that such a crazy idea like the computer would become a quintessential part of society and life in general.

His talents however don’t just end there, as he now features in DatPrettyLizard’s (part of PRIMO! Creative) video edit for The Commission titled: ‘Taking it Easy’.

The video speaks for itself, with some solid riding from both BigLily and DatPrettyLizard. I am pretty sure DatPrettyLizard is wearing one of my favourite tee’s riding. I am seriously going to kill that jerk.

Set to be released on Christmas Day (25th of December) Tarantino has dated the international drop of Django Unchained‘s soundtrack to the 18th of December and boy am I keen for those two days. As a personal and avid Quentin Tarantino addict, I’ve been frothing pretty much anything to do with this film since it’s first details and the recent info on the soundtrack has had me giggling that much more.

Teasing the release of album is the recent premiere of highlight track “100 Black Coffins” from big name and big man Rick Ross (the boss) and it encapsulates the beautiful and stereotypical Western-60′s/70′s mash up genre that is a signature to Tarantino films. Think fight scenes or tense moments from Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction or Inglorious Bastards.

Tapping in from Tarantino’s recent work in RZA’s soundtrack for The Man With The Iron Fists, the soundtrack blends the hip hop genre with soul and the signature Tarantino sound which is evident in John Legends “Who Did That To You” or the EPIC mash up of James Brown’s ‘The Payback’ and 2Pac’s ‘Untouchable’.On an additional note, R&B artist Frank Ocean wrote a song that according to Tarantino was a “[...] fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way” but was unfortunately cut from the soundtrack due to its inability to fit into a scene.

And now ending my pre-pubescent froth-fest is a note from Tarantino that further emphasises the dope in Django’s soundtrack which states: “In addition to the new original songs I am also using a lot of older recordings on the soundtrack – many of which came from my personal vinyl collection. Instead of having the record companies give me new digitally cleaned up versions of these recordings from the 60’s and 70’s, I wanted to use the vinyl I’ve been listening to for years – complete with all the pops and cracks. I even kept the sound of the needle being put down on the record. Basically because I wanted people’s experience to be the same as mine when they hear this soundtrack for the first time.” Excuse me as I nerdgasam.

When it comes to ‘Trapped In The Closet’ you’re one of three people: People who hate R-kelly and sigh at the thought of anything to do with him, people who love and drool over the series or people who don’t know what the fuck it is.

Good news for all however with Chapter 28 being released just a few days ago and Pee Pee-Kelly set to premire new episodes every friday. Straight up, this series is GOD DAMN amazing (mainly because of it’s love-to-hate factor)

Since its original release in 2005 and my discovery of its soulful, sexy, midget, incest and sexually transmitted disease filled story line in 2010, I’ve been a growing fan of the what-the-fuck? web series and I’m giddied by the fact that R-Kelly is not only releasing new chapters but he is doing it WEEKLY.

These new chapters of the series, along with the previous 27 chapters, are all available here and if you have time to catch up: DO IT! The series of songs/long form music video/hip hopera is legitimately nail biting, funny, entertaining and just, wow… Oh god. It’s just so wonderful and horrible at the same time. Thank you R-Kelly. I remember going to my local skate store to buy a certain deck after saving weeks and weeks of McDonalds pay, but it was sold out when I got there. My first real disappointment in life where shit never goes the way you want it to. This was a time before the Internet as well, so ordering it online was going to be impossible. I even made the effort of catching the train for an hour and a half to the city to try my luck at a larger skate shop. Let’s just say I made it all the way to Manly, and still came up with no dice. I ended up settling on an Enjoi deck that I still to this day hate. I think I rode it like… 4 times?

This bad memory has been brought to me, and forwarded to you thanks to REAL Skateboards new video that has dropped titled “Pushing Vancouver”. The video shows riders Antoine Asselin, Peter Ramondetta, Alex Perelson and Nick Moore destroying the streets of Vancouver for the latest edition of REAL’s Pushing Limits. Like I always mention whenever a skate video, they are always hell sick. Each video is better than the last, and always impress. This is no different with Pushing Vancouver, as ideo sees each of the riders hitting a slew of stairs, rails, benches and gaps across the coastal British Columbia city.

A nice little addition to the video, is the Pushing capsule collection, which includes a REnewAL REAL deck, tee, MOB griptape and stickers – all inspired by Vancouver and now available at selected skate shops.

Now, I for one love skate videos. They always seem to pull some super creative shit for their videos, and make you want to rewatch them over and over like a young stoked kid, studying pro’s every move. For those of you out there who don’t know what I mean, check out Enjoi’s – Bag Of Suck. Such an amazing piece of work.

Anyway, probably best if I stay on topic here. For today, we have a video from New Zealand-based DEF Skateboards, and like the boys have mentioned, the quality of the footage is amazing. It really shows a good skate reel with tricks to boot. In this latest 2012 promo video, the group took to the streets with a high definition camera, and then retroactively slowed down the footage to capture all of the details of them skating. The editing is second to none as well, and adds a bit of class and fluidity to the footage that would’ve easily been missed out on watching it in real-time.

Everything looks better in slow-motion.

The track; ‘I’m Further Away Than I Usually Am’ by Bateleur, fits perfectly, and makes like a Jerry Maguire and ‘completes me‘ – i.e. the video.

A$AP Rocky has had a monstrous year. You’ve probably noticed him and his music appear here on PRIMO! time and time again… Rightfully so. The Harlem-born rapper has become one, if not, the best upcoming rapper in the game. And he hasn’t even dropped his debut album yet. His LiveLoveA$AP mixtape and his contributions on the A$AP Mob Lord$ Never Worry mixtape have been enough to solidify him as a legit artist.

It is not secret that A$AP Rocky has been a go to for me to write many of my articles on. I dig his style, his music and what he’s doing. Right now, he is easily at the top of my list when it comes to rappers. Others include Game, Nas, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Meek Mill, Big Sean… The list goes on. However, A$AP Rocky is the artist I’m digging the most at the moment.

As for A$VP C4, the documentary takes a closer look at Rocky and how the A$AP movement came together, while featuring commentary from A$AP Yams, A$AP Twelvy and of course A$AP Rocky. The documentary also specifically looks at and incorporates two of Rocky’s top tracks – “Peso” and “Goldie.”

From a viewer’s perspective, this is a grade A documentary. Directors Luke Monaghan and James Barber have done an exceptional job with it. A$VP C4 leaves you wanting more and perfectly sets the stage for A$AP Rocky’s debut album, LongLiveA$AP, which is due out October 31.

The second teaser to Ben Newman’s short film, Os Pixadores, shows the collective in São Paulo scaling a building before running from the police.

The full film will be out in a couple of weeks, and is to be in conjunction with the ASOS Black x Puma collaboration.

Whilst the collection probably isn’t as bad-ass as their Brazilian counterparts — it’s the ideologies and approach to design, their style and the way they interact with their city that portrays all that ASOS Black x Puma desires for its customers.

The film offers a glimpse into the lives of those on both sides of the war on drugs. First off, the title is ironic – it plays on the attractive side of the $4 Billion global industry. I can’t believe that needs clarifying but there seems to be some confused YouTube trolls.

I forget that drugs are bad. No, really. It wasn’t until I started reading up on people’s opinions of this film that I remembered that real drug dealers are bad guys — not my favourite rappers. For example, when I listen to Everyday Struggle “baby on the way, mad bills to pay“, I feel fucking sorry for Biggie.

The film features interviews “insiders” 50 Cent, Eminem, The Wire producer David Simon, Arianna Huffington, Woody Harrelson, Eminem and Susan Sarandon, as well as infamous drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross.

The films synopsis — if anything — entices curiosity: Ten easy steps show you how to make money from drugs, featuring a series of interviews with drug dealers, prison employees, and lobbyists arguing for tougher drug laws.

“I make conscious music,” says Awadi in the first five minutes, immediately establishing the sociopolitical angle of Yanick Létourneau’s documentary. I’d say that’s unavoidable, considering the subject of the Sengalese rapper’s album.

Awadi argues his album is an educational tool, it goes beyond rap. In schools, he tells us, African children often learn about the Russian and French Revolution, the conflicts of WWI and WWII, and very rarely about revolutionary African leaders e.g. Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba.

For someone whose knowledge of Africa is pretty basic – i.e. me – Létourneau gives enough information to appreciate the significance of ‘Presidents d’Afrique’. Awadi is our guide, his musings drop the backgrounds of particular revolutionaries, his discussion of why the album is necessary, acting as the history lesson.

The cinematography is what it needs to be: honest, subtle and powerful. There’s no unnecessary shots, and often the cuts don’t come until we’ve had enough time to absorb the imagery. We meditate on the pensive profile of Zulu Boy, crowded streets of dilapidated houses, the barefooted child rolling a tyre alongside the dump-like cemetery.

And the soundtrack? Sometimes it’s traditional music, but as the documentary follows Awadi to the release of his album, we are treated to several recordings inc. his collaboration with M-1 from Dead Prez. There’s also the bars Smockey spits at the camera – jumping from ordinary conversation to rap, a decision which suggests rap as a superior form of critique.

Whether you’re a hip hop head or just somebody with a conscious mind, “United States of Africa: Beyond Hip-Hop” is a worthwhile watch, an insight into the genre’s ability to educate and motivate, as well as an exploration of current issues facing Africans today.

United States of Africa screens at Dendy Newtown this SAT 18 AUG @ 6:30PM as part of Possible Worlds, the 7th Canadian Film Festival.

My mates and I walked out around the 1/2 way mark – usually it’s not me to make an early exit, I didn’t even do it during Harry Potter (never tried Twilight).

But yeah, I walked out, wondering how the hell a film like that could get ANY funding at all… So I went home and tried to suss it out.

I’d heard before about crowd funding, about creating your fan base before production. This is what ‘Iron Sky’ did – people really dug the idea of alien Nazis I guess, and visually it looked quite slick. The better your pitch, the more likely people would give you dollars.

As a wannabe filmmaker, I began researching different online sites that provide the means to crowd fund your films. Kickstarter and Pozible are two such websites. They’re not just for filmmakers though – just scroll down their home pages: musicians, organisations, inventors, artists… The projects vary greatly.

Now, if this interests you, remember to read the small print, the terms and conditions. I know that Kickstarter won’t hand you the money if you don’t hit your target, it just goes straight back to the people who’ve donated. Whilst if you do get there, a certain percentage will be taken by Kickstarter and their partners for having provided the service.

If you wanna be a backer, you can drop anything from 1 buck to 100s. If you donate certain amounts, nine times outta ten they’ll give you a thank you gift. Some of them are a bit silly, some aren’t half bad – signed copies of albums, posters, free tickets to premiere etc.

Now I didn’t obviously start this article with the biggest high five to these sites, considering I was knocking the deluded crowd who somehow thought ‘Iron Sky’ was worthwhile, but there are good projects on these sites that need funding. And if you’re a budding artist with serious banking issues, have a go at it yourself.

I’m gonna plug just one – WEST COAST HIP HOP: A History in Pictures by Michael Miller. Below is the pitch, have a read and if you think it sounds even half-good, I encourage you to chip in. The more stuff out there on the best music genre ever is imperative. Ha.

When we received 10 copies of Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg’s Mac and Devin Go To High School (on Blu-ray. Ha!!!) we quickly learnt why it went straight to DVD.

The movie opens with Slow Burn, an animated joint, advising, “you can’t watch this movie without no weed.” Really, that should have been the point where we turned it off, or went out to fetch 30 ounces and smoke us into a coma – which I’m sure is the only state from which I’d enjoy this film.

The film follows Mac (Snoop Dogg/Lion) as a 15 year old senior at N.Hale High School (get it?), and Devin (Wiz Khalifa) as a soon-to-be valedictorian.

Naturally, a hot schoolteacher is the reason their worlds collide and they start ‘studying’ together which leads them to getting high, all the time. Mac lives in a fucking dope apartment and has a hydroponic set up.

The whole story was ridiculous, but I wondered where Mac’s parents were? Oh, he’s a 40 year old dude playing a 15 year old without parents. I get it. Cue the awkward 5 minute film clips where Wiz and Snoop perform in a manner of little relevance to the questionable story line.

Whilst Snoop Dogg(Lion) is no stellar actor, his appearances in the likes of Starsky and Hutch and Soul Plane lead me to believe I might laugh once. How wrong I was. Even camoes from Mike Epps, Tyga, YG, Far East Movement and Andy Milonakis did nothing.

Mac and Devin Go To High School is easily the worst film I’ve seen in 2012. The only good thing to come from it is the track Young, Wild and Free and even then, I’m not sure the track is a fair trade for the hour I lost of my life.

Derek Kwok and Henri Wong are two cats who it seems definitely watched it, and from this short stop-motion animation named Batman: Dark Knightfall, they appreciate a good film when they see one. Who is Derek Kwok and Henri Wong? Well just so you know, the old-mates are from Parabucks Co. and (like I mentioned), huge-time Batman fans that have created this fan made short. The toys used in the making of this short, were from the boys over at Hot Toys, who from watching the film, have proved to have a good eye for making extremely detailed figurines, especially these from the batman movies. My only gripe on the film, is how Heath Ledgers face turns into Jack Nicholson. Sorry, bro. Jack Nicholson was terrible compared to Heath Ledger.

Now before we all start lol-ing, someone like Snoop changing his name should not come as a surprise. Keep in mind, Snoop is no stranger to doing odd things. The man who released one of the greatest albums of all time (Doggystyle) and one of the greatest singles of all time (Drop it like it’s hot), has always been doing crazy things to get his name out there. Changing his name from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion was most probably the next step in his evolution as an artist. This name change has come after subsequently, being heavily influenced by his recent experience in Jamaica. With this name change, has come a complete turnaround in his music as well, claiming that Hip Hop has become to easy, and that reggae is where it is at now. Proving this, Snoop Lion is preparing his latest album. A reggae-infused album aptly titled; Reincarnated.

As part of the process, VICE followed Snoop to the island nation as he recorded various songs with backing from Diplo, Ariel Reichtshaid and Dre Skull of Major Lazer. That’s what happens when you grow bored with what rap gives, and this documentary reveals the rebirth and inspiration for Snoop Lion’s latest project.

The big announcement for NBA 2K13 was posted on Life and Times with a teaser video you will find below, which is also the first official trailer for the game. Don’t get too excited, though. The video isn’t all that impressive. It goes for less than 30 seconds and is basically just a quick statement narrated by Michael Jordan with some gameplay footage to accompanied it. Fittingly, ”Public Service Announcement” off Jay-Z’s 2003 The Black Album is the soundtrack for the short trailer.

NBA 2K13 is set to drop on October 3, giving its players just enough time to get some practice in before the 2012/13 NBA season begins on October 30.

When it comes to 2K, I usually play with the New York Knicks, but with Hov as executive producer, the Brooklyn Nets are bound to be OP, right? Maybe I’ll give them a workout before I begin a franchise with the Knicks. I mean, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are sure to be a fun combination to control. Then again, I do enjoy shooting basically every shoot with Carmelo Anthony when controlling New York.

Anyway, check out the teaser below, and be sure to keep up to date with all NBA 2K13 news. It sure is going to be interesting to see what Jay-Z has got cooking for the video game and what he will exactly be doing as executive producer.

1. Rhyme Spitters 1 (2004)

First of four films online that document the Chicago-based, Freestyling MC Tournament between ’04 – ’07.

Thing is, it was great to have playing in the background, ‘cos although the video coverage ain’t bad, it’s not the reason you watch it. Other problem is the audio ain’t always great either.

Nonetheless, gotta respect some of these guys, especially the gutsy kid in 9th grade who battles the bigger boys and the dude who lost the battle, but goes with his crew at around 47min.

Man, all the stuff I’m playing is old school, or at least near a decade old, but hey, everyone needs a history lesson now and then, and this list is good.

Rhyme and Reason ain’t no exception.

It’s chocker with great interviews, featuring Dr Dre and A Tribe Call Quest, as well as Ice-T – who better to finish with than him? Considering his upcoming doco Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap.
