This time it is a mostly vinyl mix highlighting a selection of tunes I’m feeling at the moment.

Ever since the Bicep Beats in Space mix late 2011 I’ve been waiting for the ‘unreleased material’ to be released. Luckily I didn’t have to wait for the time when society had flying cars and fixies with wings on them, just until may this year. The Game off their Stash EP is my opener and still scares the begebus out of everyone in the car because  they still think we are getting chased by police. Another artist that’s impressed me recently is Dixon Avenue Basement Jams signing Marquis Hawkes. I want you from the A-side of his Higher Forces EP showcases his more soulful jam side. The Roman Flugel tune More & More & More reminds me of being a soccer crowd with the colourful carnival bleeps sounding like stadium whistles.  The final song I lost my shoes on acid by Red 7 is acid disco madness. The retro percussion, the pulsing acid bassline and gospel like vocals make this too infectious to escape.

Katy lit the fire when she tweeted some negative vibes about Chief Keef’s hit, ‘Hate Being Sober.’

Really, Katy Perry? For starters, it’s ‘Hate Being Sober’. Real thugs don’t use pronouns. Secondly, it wasn’t until you heard this tack that you had serious doubt for the world? Did you have some minor doubts, and this song just tipped it over the edge? Obviously not realising who she was messing with, Katy Perry then received these horrific blows from Chief Keef.

Incredibly crude, yes. Deserved, perhaps (yes). Katy was quick to apologise upon realising exactly who she was talking to.

I’m sure you are sorry, Katy. Really, you should be thanking Chief Keef for showing you the errors of your ways. It’s no real surprise that our generation has a desire to be constantly intoxicated when chart-toppers consist of lyrical genius such as yours.

Unfortunately, Chief Keef also apologised.

So what have we learnt from all of this? Chief Keef isn’t such a tough guy after all, and Katy Perry is more hypocritical than the Westboro Baptist Church.

If you’re an avid reader of perezhilton.com you will have noticed that they neglected to mention that Chief Keef also apologised.

When he first did this, the whole gig was cut short in Sydney thanks to poor organisation and miss timing. Lucky for us though, he performed the track with “Black Skinhead”  and “New Slave” on the season finale of Saturday Night Live. “New Slaves” is one of those tracks that you straight away froth on. It goes so hard, that contrary to what OneEightKevin thinks, “New Slave” is destined to be a club banger. “Black Skinhead” however, is no where near as good, and doesn’t hit the mark at all.

Anyway, the projections are back, and Yeezy’s website is now home to an updated map that indicated the return of the visuals across cities within North America and Europe beginning tonight and going on throughout the weekend.

Could this be a drop of a new track from Yeezy? Or will it be “New Slaves” again? I guess we have to wait and see. Kanye Wests highly-anticpated follow-up to his 2010 My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus is out June 18.

Bad Boy artist MGK teams up with G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T and MMG’s Meek Mill for a money focused record in “Peso.” The track see the interesting combination of MCs rap over a nice beat, with an even nicer sample of ”I Need a Dollar.”

Lupe Fiasco – “Animal Pharm”

Lupe Fiaco is already planning to bring out his next album, Tetsuo & Youth, following the release of Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 last september. In saying that, the Chicargo native drops “Animal Pharm,” a track that could potentially end up on the new album. 

Kanye West – “Black Slaves”

Quite obviously the biggest hip-hop record to come out in some time (other than perhaps Kanye West’s other track “Black Skinhead”) is “Black Slaves,” which was premiered by Yeezy himself in various locations around the world via building projections, just as his website noted. Impressive, right? I’ve never seen anything like it. “Black Slaves” is as the title suggests, a topical record, and will feature on Mr. West’s upcoming album, Yeezus….

This time it’s with a continual project called Artist Driven.

You may remember the LRG Life Colours Fall collection for 2012, where LRG produced a line of clothing inspired by the young and talented around the world. Artist Driven takes another philosophical approach to clothing production and design. Basically, they take and follow some of the best artists the world has to offer and get them to paint and create something awesome with the LRG mark on it…. and these projects tend to be big.

This month POSE was the subject of attention with his trip to Jo’ Berg for The City of Gold Festival in South Africa. The festival looks to celebrate Johannesburg as a hub for graffiti and street artists to thrive, as well as support the local street art community. The festival takes graffiti away from a negative image to one of appreciation for the art form.

For those of you who don’t know who POSE, he is an artist out of Chicago famous for his progressive letter style and technical precision. He is a member of The Seventh Letter, a huge artist collective in the West Coast, as well as the founder of the Chicago based design firm We Are Supervision.

POSE is just one of a huge names on the star studded list for Artist Driven. Other names include our very own Dabs Myla and the recently deceased Nekst (RIP), including countless others.

Seeing Selena Gomez, Ashely Benson and Vanessa Hudgens in their bras and undies smoking bongs, sniffing rack and having sex in pools would all seem to be things one could only experience in their dreams. The Disney stars took a huge step in their careers. Arguably, it was a backward step but who really cares, seeing that amount drugs and sex in a movie is enough to distract you away from any feasible plot or annoyingly repetitive dialogue.

The movie started great, creating a really believable world of gloom and sadness. The four girls only had each other’s company living in a depicted depressing surround. It gets pretty intense from here on out and doesn’t slow down. Of course, along the way there are countless titties and asses juggling all over the place. Unfortunately, you don’t see much of the big 3 (Gomez, Benson and Hudgens) taking their tops off. Hudgens gets them out a little; the director’s not so attractive, pasty as milk, wife, Rachel Korine, gets them out the most unfortunately.

It was pretty fun to watch, I must admit, but slowly it gets more and more ridiculous. It was nice to see the ATL Twins acting as themselves (junkies who share their women), giving DGK some nice exposure; you can check them out over at our good friends VICE. Guccie Mane makes an appearance as the rival gangster and is constantly fucking hoes. Oh, he also does that in the movie.

Don’t go out of your way to see it, but if you do, there will be some very enjoyable parts, especially the part where Franco (who calls himself Alien because apparently he’s out of this world, but really he’s just playing all-star rapper, Riff Raff) bursts out playing Britney Spears, beautifully on his outdoor piano he bought with all his drug money.

Basically, if you wanna see four girls, three attractive and one not, running around half naked for an entire movie, Spring Breakers is certainly for you.

Joey Badass tweeted this yesterday:

And a good day to you too, Mr. Badass. With one of the most frictionless flows in the game, it’s pretty much a lock that this EP from Joey Badass is going to be impressive. The dude turns words into liquid and puts them back together in phrases and rhyming patterns that not even Riff Raff can fathom. He’s got the style and confidence of a seasoned vet, and yet he’s still a good few years off even being allowed into clubs and bars.

Joey Badass has received a lot off attention since releasing his 1999 mixtape. A part of this attention consisted of calls that Joey would be the saviour of hip-hop. He very casually has brushed this off in interviews, claiming that he’s just doing his own thing.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get see Joey Badass come out to Australia last month as a part of Movement, which was cancelled basically because NAS pulled out. If NAS wasn’t so damn good, I’m sure I would say something nasty here… but I can’t.

In what will definitely go extremely well with a pair of these Nike Roshe Runs, the new Supreme tie-dye camp caps will compliment an outfit well as a standout feature piece. With a cotton upper and full tie-dye design, the cap is finished off with a denim visor, proof that you don’t need to go all black everything anymore.

It is good to see Supreme still making moves in light of the biggest court case Streetwear has ever seen. It must be business as usual for the guys, and to be honest, I am starting to think that just maybe, the court case could all be a publicity stunt for both brands. From what I hear, the Married to the Mob owner and James Jebbia are actually tight friends, so this whole court case has me singing The White Stripes track “I Think I Smell A Rat”.

For me though with regards to the hat, I think I will pass. Not only am I not willing to wait in line for it, but it’s a 5-panel that looks like it got mixed in with the colours when doing washing.

As you would have seen all over the media this week, Oklahoma was hit by a devastating tornado. The tornato caused absolute chaos through Moore, damaging and destroying many homes, as lives were even more tragically lost during the disaster.

To offer some much needed support, NBA superstar and Oklahoma City Thunder forward, Kevin Durant, has donated $1 million to the Oklahoma tornado disaster relief fund. The Thunder also announced a donation of $1 million and so has the NBA and players’ union.

“I call Oklahoma City my home. I go through Moore all the time. It’s unfortunate. We’re going to come together as a city like we always do and we’re going to bounce back,” said Durant. “It was tough to see.”

Durant has been playing in Oklahoma for the last five seasons after the team moved from Settle once his rookie year came to an end. While in Oklahoma, Durant has been to the NBA playoffs four times and has played in the finals once, as well making the Western Conference All-Star team each playoff bound season and winning the NBA’s scoring title on three occasions.

Although the Thunder made a somewhat early exit from the playoffs in a second round series loss to the San Antonio Spurs this year (without Russell Westbrook, who was injured), Durant has clearly given the city of Oklahoma much to be excited about, and will no doubt continue to do so as he remains a member of the Thunder.

Once more, shout out to Kevin Durant, and prayers to Oklahoma and everyone battling tough times over there.

It’s no secret, Cash Money’s image needed a lift. Founded by the irrelevant Birdman who has nothing to talk about except his money, and with a frontman who is effectively a Kanye-Wanna-Be, and Nicki Manaj who can only really be proud about that fact that she managed to get on a French Montana track, Cash Money clearly needed some mature and seasoned musicians to add some authority to their line up (I have made no mention of Drake because he is clearly the greatest RnB/rap hybrid since Sisqo, and is the only thing holding Cash Money together). Cash Money’s artists seem to be attracting the underage crowd (A.K.A The Money Crowd) more than ever. If Paris Hilton can’t turn these guys around, I’m not sure that anyone can.

This will be Paris Hilton’s second album and according to her, it’s going to be “different” to her first album. In fact, “it’s really going to be house music.” Now I can’t wait to see what a musical master does when she turns her attention to the genre of music that’s known for pushing the boundaries and experimenting in ways not seen since the heroin-jazz-heads of the 70′s and 80′s.

I have no doubt that someone as sophisticated as Paris Hilton can compete with a heroin addict.

This piece of art is crazy, and the fact that the man sacrificed one of his most priced possessions in the name of art, makes it all the more cooler. Rex and I were lucky enough to see his gallery in Bali late last year and most, if not all his pieces are off the chain good. He had some killer canvas’ from the golden era of the NBA in mind, and some other shoe casts including the Jordan 6 and adidas Superstars were insane.

My pick of the bunch though, was his Air Yeezy 2 rendition, and now that it is in bronze, it looks a whole lot better. Bronze, for those that don’t know, has always been used when representing what is sacred, and “ICON” symbolizes a generation’s mental perception of an iconic object. Much like the Nike Air Yeezy 2 has been for our generation.

Cracked or disintegrating midsole

Unless you have your shoes in an air-tight container, and decide never to wear them in the hopes of this happening, this unfortunately is part of your sneakers life. It is seriously going to happen to everyone. Just ask DatPrettyLizard and how he is going with his 2009 Jordan III True Blues.

I for one love it when they start cracking. It shows the shoes have actually been worn and not just stocked for re-sale. For those out there who are hate this part of a shoes life, you’re going to have to simply suck it up and deal with it. There is nothing practical you can do to save this from happening.

Just imagine if you are one of the lucky few to own a pair of O.G. Jordan’s from the 80’s or early 90’s? I promise you, the midsole is definitely cracked and gone by now, rendering the shoe practically unwearable. Life, huh?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend going H*A*M on your shoes

So you have broken up with your girl, and in a panic, have accidentally left your OG Jordan III’s in their box underneath your bed. In a moment of pure madness, you lose your shit looking and looking for your favourite pair of J’s that you swear you took with you when you moved out and in with the boys.

Next thing you know, you get a photo of them burning alive on the street, and there is nothing you can do about it. I have actually heard of this happening. I would much rather they sell the shoes on eBay, or give them away then see them burning. Chicks: Am I right, guys?

Getting scuffs

Let me put it to you this way. Nothing pisses someone off more than some jerk in a club stepping on your new J’s. In some cases, this is a ‘Game Over’ moment that you decide “Fuck this shit, I am going home. I fucking hate everyone.” which I can totally understand happening. I feel for any bro going out to a club in your freshest kicks who is meeting a potential hot lady friend to hopefully hook in with. Many a friend has attempted to do this, and many a friend has gone home in the process.

I ended up wearing some Jordan IV Cements out on the weekend and just got too drunk to realise people where stepping all over me when ‘Love Sosa’ came on. When I woke up the next morning, to my disbelief and extreme disappointment, I had black marks over the toe box and laces. Not helping the situation was the fact that I was hungover and hating everything in sight. It was an awesome night my friends… Was.

Before we start crying at toe box creases, let me start by saying there is nothing that can be done with this. Absolutely nothing. Of course, there are those toe box shields, but fuck that. Who in their right minds would wear some uncomfortable piece of plastic on the inside of their shoes causing you to get blisters on your big toe, which leaves you to wear a shit pair of brown Rip Curl thongs that a mate has passed onto you as he was moving to Perth for the next 3 years? Ok, I wore them… Once.

There is hope though, because if your sneaker comes with rolled leather, creases won’t shoe up as hard. However, if a sneaker doesn’t come with rolled leather, then more likely than not, the day you wear your new kicks, is the day you will get creases that make your shoes look like shit. Best to build that bridge A$AP, and get over it.

Based on the classic silhouette of the Saucony Shadow 5000, The Lucanid is clean, with colours decorating the inner lining making for an understated, yet clean upper. The shoe features a mix of leather and synthetic mesh panelling, punctuated by also having a nice mix of white accents and a 3M heel tab.

Keeping the colourway options to a minimum, the shoe comes in orange and green, which works perfectly well against the black and grey outer, leaving this collaborative effort just right for catering for personalities all ends of the spectrum.

The Lucanid pack will be available from June 15 via Solebox, so you definitely have a chance at scoring a pair. For me though, I might have to pass on these. I just cant get into Saucony and how chunky they look on feet. Whenever I see the Saucony Shadow 5000 silhouette, I instantly think that is could potentially be the bastard child of an Air Max 90, and an Asics Gel Lyte III. Not that there is anything wrong with that though. That is just me.

The latest trailer, which has been aptly titled “Fate Of Your Planet”, features an eerie voice-over from mad-villian General Zod (played by Michael Shannon), as the Kryptonian General is hell bent of fucking all of humanity up, and threatens Earth in retaliation for harbouring a fellow citizen of Krypton, who coincidently, considers him a traitor for staying here. What he doesn’t realise I guess, is the fact that Superman loves earth and its people, so I can’t really understand as to why he won’t just take his word for it.

Movie plots, I guess. It has to be something, right?

The film which is directed by Zack Snyder, and has production from superhero movie expert, and i-can-do-no-wrong lord Christopher Nolan stars Henry Cavil as Clark Kent/Superman, and serves as the latest reboot to a franchise that continually has struggled to portray the Man of Steel in his proper light.

It is a good start this time around, as Henry Cavil is huge, and looks like the perfect fit for the Superman casting.

I am so pumped for this it has become a sick joke.

After past collaborations utilising the classic Converse models, this time COMME des GARÇONS PLAY has chosen to work with the Converse Pro Leather. The collection includes a total of four new Rei Kawakubo designs, staying true to tradition, with the midtop and ox models both featured in a simple black and a white. This time however, PLAY branding is kept to anything but minimal, covering the entire shoe in varied sizes and angles, in a print-like fashion. Not all is lost though, the Pro Leather gives nod to past Jack Purcell and Chuck Taylor models, with each colourway featuring an alternating (black/white) heel stripe on the back.

Zilla: You have an incredibly unique style. What was your journey in terms of developing and refining it?

Beastman: My style has slowly developed over about 15 years of drawing and experimenting with painting techniques. The journey was full of making mistakes with different types of acrylic paint, ink, wood, markers, canvases, varnishes etc etc. Just by drawing and painting a lot, my style just slowly became what it is today.

You’ve recently completed a piece with Jae Copp. Tell us a little bit about how that came about and what you guys did with it.

This piece was for The Hours Tower Mural Project which is an ongoing art project at The 4217 in Surfers Paradise. It came about through chatting with some old friends of mine who are involved in The 4217 redevelopment, and they wanted to have some kind of artwork going on there as part of the project, so we managed to convince them to let us curate a huge mural on the exterior of the building. Then we got Jae Copp involved cause he is one of the best local artists up there on the Gold Coast. The mural took 4 days to complete and was painted with aerosol paint and the biggest scissor lift we could hire.

What have you got in stall for us at Semi-Permanent this weekend?

We will be talking about our own individual art practices, and how we have combined our skills, networks and hard work into The Hours. We will be talking about the different art projects we have been doing, are going to be doing and that we want to be doing. Then on Sunday afternoon we will be painting down at The Projects in Enmore.

The mural took 4 days to complete and was painted with aerosol paint and the biggest scissor lift we could hire.

What’s on the horizon for Beastman?

So much stuff going on for the rest of the year – a solo exhibition in Sydney in July, an exhibition in Hong Kong in September, Wonderwalls Wollongong later in the year, launching the Beastman x Element Collection, painting murals in various locations around the world and some other smaller projects. But for most of the time I will just be working at home and hanging out with my 4 month old son.

If you don’t already know, Pharrell did an amazing job on the first Despicable Me, that the producers have found it necessary to bring the lord-of-youth Williams for the sequal. The song titled “Happy”, is on of three originals songs by Pharrell on the soundtrack which has been composed by Heitor Pereira.

Much like the title suggests, the song is indeed an uplifting (Happy?) track, and will have you bopping you head from side to side, as well has tapping your foot underneath your desk.

The cool thing about this track, is that you will get to hear it through cinematic speakers when the movie makes it debut on July 3^rd. That is seriously worth the wait in itself. I used to work in a cinema, and one time I got to play “Master Of Puppets” by Metallica through the speakers of the biggest room. It was ridiculously good.

For the time being though, here is the track below. Trust me, it is an awesome track, and well worth the listen.

Pharrell Williams – You are an absolute God.

Not only is he dropping trap track after trap track but with his constant trouble with the law, and being hated on by Katy Perry (who has been noted that she has serious doubts on the world after listening to ‘Hate Being Sober for the first time) has not stopped him from going H*A*M for his fans. This track picks up from where he left off after an amazing debut, only this time around, there is no Young Chop on the beat.

Shame really. Must be because Young Chop is busy working with Kanye West in Paris at the moment to be with his bro Keef. Or maybe, they are acutally beefing at the moment, as it has been noted that Young Chop was unhappy with the current alliance with Gucci Mane becoming part of the Glo Gang.

Luckily for Keef, this track goes hard with or without Young Chop. Word of warning however: If you are looking for insightful lyrics, it will probably be a good idea to just can the song now. Just look at the title: Macaroni Time.

That shit is a giveaway if there ever was one.

Nike SB pro rider professional Justin Brock, HUD team rider Dan Plunkett and Atlanta lord Pat McClain have lived that dream, venturing out to an abandoned waterpark to skate a full pipe, absolutely destroying it for a Thrasher feature. Although the moves performed may not be your hardflips, 360 switch flips,  or any really crazy technical that you would normally see on the street by lords like Shane O’Neill, Eric Koston or Mickey Mendoza (shout outs), you need to understand to magnitude at what they are doing what where they are doing it. Think about how large waterparks are, and how sometimes daunting they are. Impressive as all hell now, right?

With tricks that are normally reserved for a perfectly build half pipe, Justin Brock absolutely owns this. The control and sheer balls of steel he shows in this video make for a pretty impressive and awe-aspiring video.

They seriously should just abandon more of these so that we can get more pro’s out making videos. Can you imagine BMX riders taking on this kind of stuff? I can see BigLily and DatPrettyLizard frothing at the mouth just thinking about it.

Unline the Orange Leopard Roshe Run’s that were announced last week, these bold Roshe Run’s actually look amazing. They may be super colourful and in your face, but there is a certain clean look about these that if I had a girlfriend, I would 100% be buying them for her. Even if she hated the sight of them I still would, and I make no apologies for it. The chances of her hating on these though would be slim to none as realistically there is no way anyone can hate on these. The fact that it looks like a rainbow ice-cream will sell itself.

The full upper on these Roshe Runs features a multicolour tie-dye design, that is complemented perfectly with a balanced white Swoosh, laces and outer sole. I have always been a fan of the contrasting sole. Something about a whole black or colour-blocked shoe without any contrast just doesn’t look complete, and reminds me of wearing Clark shoes to school.

The Nike Roshe Run “Tie-Dye” is now available from Solebox. No word on an Australian release though, so your best bet is to just cut the shit and buy it straight from there.

For starters, shooting a whole lookbook in a different country (Benny Gold is based in an Francisco), has got to be the most ballin’ shit a brand can do, and although subways have been a popular backdrop for lookbooks in recent years, Benny Gold have managed to find and shoot what seems to all of us as the cleanest transport system on the planet. It seriously looks like a thousand maids have ran in there and cleaned it especially for the shoot.

The collection itself heavily features printed tee’s, with a nice mix of denim shorts, chino pants and button-downs. The standout piece is the denim-like 5-panel though. I don’t really wear 5-panels as they make me look ridiculous, but I would definitely wear that one. I think it has something to do with the fact that the only style of hat I have ever worn are 59-fifty’s, and going to a smaller style cap throws me completely off.

Look for the collection to hit Benny Gold’s online shop soon. At least this way, we can all have a dig at the collection, as it will be online and not just in the US.

For those out there who have never heard of Yohji Yamamoto, he is an award winning, and super influential fashion designer based in both Tokyo and Paris. Considered a master tailor in his own right, he has become known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics.

The guy is straight baller, and has become an incredibly respected designer in  both the fashion, and street, as his collaborative effort with adidas has been so successful, that the stuff practically sells out upon release, having a cult following from punters worldwide. The Y’s by Yohji Yamamoto x adidas Super Position will be not different, and features two motifs: A Navy/White and White/Red.

Featuring a premium leather upper with special stitched branding that runs off the sneakers sides, the shoe has been taken off the already successful superstar range, that has made adidas famous.

Look for the adidas Super Position by Yohji Yamamoto at very select retailers in July 2013. Alternatively, and for most of us here in Australia, your best bet is online.

Firstly, how fucking cold has it been? I for one have been hit hard as rocking a shaved head does you absolutely no favors when the weather gets chilly. Around this time of year, I tend to grab whatever beanie I can find and use it. The trick is getting a good one. It is an absolute must to have the goods on your head come winter, as getting a great beanie can lead you to not only looking pretty fresh to death, but keeping your head warm at the same time. It’s a double kill. The problem is if you select wrong, you end up looking like a tea cosy, which by all accounts is a no no.

Shying away from what has become the staple in everyones beanie repertoire; The black beanie with little to no branding, Homies has gone a total opposite direction, making a beanie that is not only colourful with a basketball making up the ‘O’ in the word ‘Homies’, but it has a fucking pom pom. What can seriously be more fun than a pom pom? Nothing, and if there is, I don’t want to know about it.

Images recently leaked in regard to three new colourways of the Lunar Flyknit Chukka expected for release later this year (NIKE, DO SOME NEW COLOURWAYS OF THE FUCKING FLYKNIT RACER ALREADY). The upcoming iterations flex hard in a super colourful, contrasting purple/yellow/sky blue and green/orange, both above white Lunar outsoles. A more subtle granite/blue is also seen, somewhat reminiscent of the ‘Snow Style HTM’ releases earlier this year (they’re nothing alike, but you should google it anyway).

No specific information regarding their release is available at the moment, but they should retail for ~$195 and will be out later in the year. Editor’s Note: I am so pumped for this, it has actually become some kind of sick joke. It is crazy how on point Nike have been with these. I guess that’s what happens when you are continually going H*A*M.

The San Francisco-based Black Scale have been in the eyes and ears of many streetwear enthusiast since its juggernaut like rise over the past two to three years, and with good reason. Hip Hop fashion kids A$AP Mob have enjoyed donning their gear all over the place, which is obviously followed by the masses of fans jumping on to look like their heroes.

Gourmet however, are one of those brands making it big in an industry that has the big players playing major league. Starting a shoe brand when you have Nike as a somewhat competitor will always be tough, but these LA-based dudes are doing extremely well for themselves.

This particular model has been taken off Gourmet’s The 35 silhouette, and has been designed with scaly black leather and a perfect fitting white accent that hits the shoes technical outsole with a touch of subtle branding. The shoe has been finished with black eyelets and matching laces. Dropping this Saturday, the Blvck Gourmet will be available on the brands online store.

Drake looking ridiculous on Anchorman 2.

The film, which has seen the reprisal of all the OG actors from the first movie make a return in to their roles is going to be huge, if not at least, a fuck-off funny movie. With the trailer that just dropped, it will make people even more excited. You have all seen the cameo appearances from Kanye West and Drake, where they don afros and vintage clothing, and watching the short trailer, only offers banter between the four amigos, and offers little in regards to what the movie will be all about.

Chances are, this is the first trailer of many. I remember seeing Will Farrell making TV appearances as Ron Burgundy a while back when the movie was announced. This has to be one of his best characters, as he seems to fit the role perfectly.

I am super excited to watch this film. Very rarely does a film come along that gets me as excited as this. I am sure you already know how pumped I am for Fast and Furious 6, and to prove a point, at the moment, I am more pumped for Anchorman 2 than what I am for Fast and Furious 6. This practically says, I mean business, and make no apologies for it.

Let’s just hope they have some stupidly over the top fight scene as they did in the first one. Also, the film MUST have Ben Stiller in it again. He nailed that Mexican Anchor role!

The promotion for this album has been huge, including premiering his new single across 66 countries worldwide at the same time. The album art for his new album looks amazing again this time around, which was once again, unofficially seen through his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s Instagram. I guess it all helps publicity wise, right? At least now, we have the official imagery in all its glory.

What the cover means? Who the fuck knows. If you stare at it for long enough, you can kind of make out Jesus’ face that has been made obscure. There is no doubt that it has to have some kind of hidden meaning behind it, as Yeezy always has a shitload of metaphors and hidden meanings behind his stuff.

The LP will be dropping on June 18, and I for one am absolutely pumped. The guy is always money when it comes to music, so seeing him break out again after My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy is only making it harder to count down to what could quite possibly be, the album of the year.

Let’s not be too rose-tinted though, the man does some incredibly stupid things. I still love to interrupt people with “I’m really happy for you…”, it’s actually the funniest thing to ever do to anyone, and a great way to meet new people. After hearing New Slaves though, I get the sense he’s got more going for him than most people would have you believe. New Slaves is a an intelligent, yet raw and scathing state-of-the-union address to the hip-hop game.

Songs about the record industry aren’t anything new, but in New Slaves Kanye touches on a race issue that’s not so much racism but an exercise in exploitation, with an obligatory mention to the disparity in numbers of the black prison population. If you’ll permit me a brief history lesson, I’d like to take you back to a genre of film popularised during the 1970s known as “blaxpoitation” (black x exploitation). This hallmarks of this genre basically were a black protagonist, set in a poor neighbourhood, facing black problems and marketed towards an urban black audience. Soon this audience expanded and blaxspoitation films began to be watched by many other demographics, with it being alleged that they contributed to reinforcing black stereotypes amongst white audiences.

Blaxspoitation seems to be something that Kanye reckons is going on in the record industry now. Hiphop as a genre was primarily developed, pioneered and consumed by the African American community during the 1970s, as a music of empowerment and expression. It’s expounded from there though, crossing racial and ethnic lines, just like the films did and now I think it’d be fair to say that commerical hip-hop is now being consumed by a very white fanbase. Ask yourself, what percentage of a Kanye show is white? Who do you think he sells records to?

West lists here the conventions of the black hip-hop star, speaking as if he was a part of the record industry that created stars like him. He laments an industry that throws money at ignorance, signing “niggas (that) can’t read” onto contracts, but even someone who can’t read understands the status that goes with owning the keys to a Maybach. The biggest names in the game are being produced, moulded into the images of wealth, excess and outrage that the media and paparazzi love to sell to us. The fast cars, gold chains and excess are sold to the African American community as something to aspire to. This is what hip-hop has come to; success is now measured in carats and clarity.

New Slaves is about the system that’s propelling up-and-comers like Chief Keef into the spotlight, trading off the image capital generated by the rappers being ready-made media swaggerhounds. What 17 year old wouldn’t think the world of himself in a situation like this, thrown cash and the keys for doing what he loves to do? I think you can hardly blame Kanye for being decadent and spending the proceeds of his work, when the music he’s producing is losing integrity every time it’s played at a suburban sixteen year old’s birthday party.

It’s the ultimate middle finger to the system that Kanye can go on Saturday Night Live and throw down New Slaves to an audience that laps it up. Kanye’s telling us what’s wrong with the system, but we’re just downloading it as a track to throw on at the next party. Hearing this track has actually given me a new respect for Yeezy, but unfortunately the complex ideas present will be dismissed by a lot of people. For many, it’s just another rendition of a spoilt Kanye crying poor again, playing the race card when he’s ultra successful. They’ll tune in of course, to watch and listen for the celebrity spectacle it creates, and that’s exactly the kind of attitude that’ll perpetuate this system.

Thanks to his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s Instagram, rumours have started going crazy on the Internet with this new colourway for a shoe that could quite possibly be a new colour that they are adding to the already extremely rare and successful Nike Air Yeezy 2.

Kanye West and his camp have not helped, throwing fuel on the fire by constantly updating photos of Ye with them on foot. The colour scheme of the shoe works perfectly in line with the popular Louis Vuitton version, with no glow-in-the-dark sole been added this time around.

Chances are, the inclusion of the glow sole will be added on the final shoe though. That has always been one of the key features of the shoes that apparently jumped over the Jumpman.

I for one am absolutely pumped to see if they actually drop these. It will give me one more chance to snavel a pair of the coveted shoe that had punters lining up a least a kilometre to try and get a pair during the Sydney release.
